We decided to take a side trip to City of Rocks in southern Idaho and stay put at our current camping location. City of Rocks is an awesome place! First, it’s pretty high, you go into the park at 5400’ and it only goes up as you go through the park. This was a stopping point for the California trail in the 1800’s.
City of Rocks is this remote location were all these rocks just seem to pop out of the ground. You drive through rolling hills, and some higher mountains and BAM, here is this park with all these cool rock formations. It’s an international destination for rock climbers.
On the way I was thinking, it’s snowing at my camp and I’m only going higher, that makes some sense. But it turned out to be a beautiful sunny day and warmed up quickly to over 45 degrees. We did several short hikes and met some rock climbers, they must have been cold, you really can’t wear gloves when you rock climb. There are also some great camping places in the park, have to note that for my next trip in the warmer time of the year. It’s all dirt roads and I would not want to get caught there in a snowstorm with a trailer.
Indie at the top of a 5.13,with no thumbs and no harness
We got back and immediately hit the docks so Indie could practice his dives into the river. He must have had cold shock on the first dive but he wanted more. You could tell when he had enough, he dropped his throw toy as far away from me as possible, so it was time to leave.
I have been getting pressure from some individuals to add more pictures.

We are planning on heading to Lava Hot Springs for tomorrow, a short day, but will end with a soak in the hot springs, oh yea! I may be too relaxed to write tomorrow.
